What do our Graduate Civil Engineer do? 

As a Graduate Civil Engineer based in Stantec’s Wellington office, you will join a friendly and collaborative team and contribute to providing designs, calculations, reporting, construction monitoring, and advice for our clients around the region and nationally. Our Wellington water team are involved in a wide variety of drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater projects around the region, including: 

  • design and construction of pipe renewals and upgrades along with other infrastructure such as pump stations and culverts
  • Treatment plant upgrades
  • Wastewater and drinking water network planning and design.

You day to day tasks may include:  

  • Site visits to review project progress, perform tests and completing site walkovers to ensure sites are operating safely.
  • Performing data analysis and design calculations.
  • Attending workshops, training, and career development opportunities.
  • Reviewing drawings and designs for construction projects.
  • Assisting with work on drinking water and wastewater treatment plants.
  • Writing risk assessments, reports, memos, and other project management documentation.

What you will bring 

Your all. We are looking for individuals who love to dive into the detail, digest problems, and come up with innovative solutions. You will be interested in the built environment and how each element needs to perform inorder to serve our communities.  

You will also need to be a recent Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) graduate as this shows us you have the right learning approach to solve the multifaceted issues we face day to day.  

To be eligible to apply, you must: 

  • Be a recent graduate or due to complete your tertiary education in 2025
  • Preferably hold a valid restricted or full Driving Licence
  • Working Rights in New Zealand (Student Visa holder, convertible to post study open work visa, Permanent Resident OR Citizen)
