No one day is the same when working here; however, I’m happy to share what my usual day looks like.

5.45 AM

After 3 alarms, I finally get off my bed, drink water, take a bath, and prepare to go to work.

6.20 AM

Philippines is known for its notorious extreme traffic thus I aim to ride either a Public Utility Vehicle or Bus that will bring me to UnionBank Plaza at least 2 hours before 8.30 am.

8.10 AM

I have arrived in the office and since there’s still some time before 8.30 am, I doll myself up to look more presentable. I also grab the chance to clean my desk since I work better with clean surroundings. Afterward, drinking a good cup of coffee and eating freshly baked pandesal officially started my day.

9 AM

I met with my Learning and Development team for a Daily Stand-Up meeting. This is how we start our morning routine – sharing our accomplishments the day before, our committed tasks today and blockers or concerns we might have.

9.30 AM

I’m in charge of training and providing workshops for employees to develop their soft skills such as but not limited to Facilitate Service Oriented Communication, Handling Difficult Clients, and Presentation Skills. My usual participants or “students” are Branch Ambassadors and LEAD Management Trainees.

Aside from going home, one of the best parts of my everyday working life is LUNCH! Me and my workmates often spend our lunch time eating our home-cooked meals but on Fridays, we usually feast at nearby restaurants. Our favorite cuisine though is Korean food!

Fun Fact: Ortigas, Pasig City houses numerous Korean restaurants, cafes and grocery marts.

Being part of a team that develops the Bank capabilities, it is important that we adjust our learning approaches depending on the situation and needs of the employees. We at Learning and Development, or commonly known as UnionBank University, design, develop and deploy learning programs and interventions across the Bank to promote an agile culture of self-learning.

During the afternoon, I am recording our upcoming e-learning modules so that it will be produced and consumed by our learners. Thankfully, recording equipment is readily available through the Employer Branding team and collaboration with different units in the Bank is very efficient to ensure a smooth learning experience for all.

Last 2022, UnionBank opened its first Innovation Campus at San Pedro Laguna, which we now call UnionBank’s Innovation Campus (UBIC). This facility serves as a hub for research and development to further Tech Up Pilipinas.

As Talent Capability Manager, we also facilitate classes, training and workshops in UBIC to showcase what learning should look and feel like with the digital advancements of this state-of-the-art facility. During this time, we partnered with our Emerging Tech Group to share their expertise and experience with the current LEAD Management Trainees. I am honored to be the Learning Partner of LEAD MTs, while being a LEAD MT myself.

I don’t often go to UBIC, by the way! 😉

Now that my working day is officially over, I honestly feel tired. That’s why I’m thankful that there are different wellness sessions conducted in our office which are all beginner friendly!

Tuesdays are for Yoga

9.00 PM

Once I arrive at my house, I eat the dinner prepared and cooked by my parents while I spend time with them as well. I usually end my day with a cup of tea and an episode of a TV series.

On some Saturdays, I also involve myself in joining or leading Corporate Social Responsibility Activities or the Go Beyond Community Program here at UnionBank. I love doing these activities as this motivates me to thrive towards a bigger purpose.
