About this course

Outline Outline

Mechanical engineering is the broad discipline related to the design, analysis, manufacturing and maintaining of mechanical systems. This specialisation provides an understanding of fundamental principles utilised in mechanical systems, which includes fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and electromechanical energy. It will build on the engineering foundation learnt in the core units of the Engineering First Year programme.

What you'll learn
  • Demonstrate a conceptual understanding of fundamental science, mathematics, data analytics, information science, sustainability principles and/or computing, GC1
  • Solve mechanical systems problems of industrial and societal significance via innovative and creative design or research, working individually or in teams, GC2
  • Select and use current and emerging technologies to develop and communicate effective and innovative engineering solutions to complex problems, GC3
